Login to routerlogin.net, head to the wireless settings. Uncheck the box next to hide SSID broadcast for your 60GHz network. You can change the name for this wifi band to easily differentiate between the different wifi bands being emmited from your netgear X10 router.
Login to the netgear router settings using routerlogin.net. Click wireless under the basic settings tab. You can set a definite wireless channel and output power for your wireless channel. The 2.4 GHz band will always give you more range than 5 GHz band on your netgear R8000 router.

Disable dynamic QoS on your netgear router if the problem persists.
Try upgrading the Ethernet to a CAT 6 cable in case of Ethernet connections.
